Be Part of History: Ashley Hero WOD in Honor of Full Combat Inclusion
No Exceptions is calling for all supporters to join us for the Ashley Hero workout of the day (WOD) at your local CrossFit box. This WOD honors all women who supported or served in combat specialties in Iraq and Afghanistan. These amazing women have fought and will continue to fight and defend our country.
The military has finally opened all combat positions to women, but there's a loophole that threatens these opportunities. This policy gives the services—the Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy—until January 1, 2016 to request exceptions to continue excluding women from these opportunities in the military. Today, almost 250,000 positions are effectively closed to women.
About Ashley White Stumpf
1st Lt. Ashley White Stumpf was killed during combat operations in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan on October 22, 2011 when the assault force she was supporting triggered an improvised explosive device. Ashley was assigned to the 230th Brigade Support Battalion, 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, North Carolina National Guard, Goldsboro, NC, and served as a member of a Cultural Support Team attached to a Joint Special Operations Task Force in Afghanistan.
As a Cultural Support Team Member on her first deployment to Afghanistan, White selflessly served. Ashley’s actions exemplify the highest commitment to duty, honor, and country. Learn more about Ashley's life and family, as well as the brave women who fought alongside her as portrayed in Gayle Tzemach Lemmon's book, Ashley's War.
We join together—each in our own way and to the best of our own ability—to salute these brave women who blazed the trail in removing the barriers to full GENDER inclusion in combat.
